Description of Steam Pad - IF97 Calculator & Thermodynamic Charts
1. Introduction
- Steam Pad is a handy and powerful toolbox of steam table, calculates general thermodynamic and transport properties of water and steam using the latest releases of IAPWS IF97, and provides typical thermodynamic charts with interactive functions.
- Uses any 2 selected general properties to calculate the others. The general properties are P(Pressure), T(Temperature), V(Specific Volume), H(Enthalpy), S(Entropy) and X(Vapor Fraction).
- Provides typical thermodynamic charts (or diagrams) , which include Enthalpy Entropy chart, Temperature Entropy chart, Pressure Enthalpy chart, Temperature Enthalpy chart, Pressure Entropy chart, and Pressure Temperature chart.
- Locates calculated results (point locations) on the charts.
- Computes some other thermodynamic and transport properties, like internal energy, heat capacity, viscosity, etc.
- Allows saving calculated results, and supports restoring some of them.
2. Calculator
- Any 2 properties can be chosen from 6 generals as inputs to calculate the other 4 properties. The inputs and outputs of general properties can alternate, which fulfills alterable calculating demands.
- The range of validity confined by pressure and temperature for general properties is compliant to the definition in the release of IAPWS IF97.
- The calculating demands are processed coordinately both for Single-Phase regions and for Two-Phase region. The calculated properties and the corresponding region of the results can be distinguished from inputs automatically, and will be displayed in the outputs list box.
- The properties are in SI(Metric) or in IP(Imperial) unit systems.
3. Thermodynamic Charts
- The lines of the other 4 properties are shown in different colors.
- The Lines can be displayed or hidden by clicking the corresponding checkboxes.
- The charts can be moved, enlarged or contracted by dragging or pinching gestures of fingers.
- The values are marked along the lines at certain intervals.
- The boundary of the saturation region (region 4) and the critical point are especially identified.
- The calculated results will be located in the charts as one identifying red point (or more points).
4. Results
- The calculated records, each of which contains 6 basic properties, can be stored in a row in the outputs list .
- The 2 inputs of one record are displayed in a distinctive mode.
- The region, as well as the possible arrangement number of multiple outputs, is shown in the row.
- The records can be re-arranged and deleted.
- Selected records can be restored both on the Calculator Panel and on the Charts Panel.
5. Multiple States
- Multiple states may be obtained under certain inputs within a certain range.
- When the number of states is greater than 1, a segment control, which allows switching the outputs, is shown in the outputs list.
- The corresponding points of multiple states are shown in the charts altogether.
