CLIMB Piedibus Smart is a mobile app created to support the companions of the Piedibus. It allows you to manage the various activities of the service (volunteer shifts, itineraries and stops, daily presence of children, parents' contacts). It also allows children in possession of proximity devices to register / appeal automatically.
The app was born in 2016 within the Smart Community Lab CLIMB research project of the Bruno Kessler Foundation, initially created in collaboration with the "A safe walk" project of the Youth Policy Office of the Municipality of Trento. It was then extended to other Italian and non-Italian cities.

To use Pedibus Smart it is not enough to download the app, there are some steps to do first. A municipality, a school or a parents' association establishes a collaboration agreement with FBK, authorizing FBK to customize the Pedibus Smart components (apps, proximity devices and dashboards) for the specific pedibus of that school or city.
The Pedibus Smart App is then activated and, together with the Pedibus contact person, a quick training form is organized for volunteers / carers on the use of the app and the distribution of devices.

Every day, using a companion's smartphone, the attendance log is created automatically, confirmed by drivers and shared securely with our back-end servers. When agreed, a personalized web page provides monitoring and statistics on the performance of the Pedibus.
The PedibusSmart can be complemented by the KidsGoGreen game, which further encourages sustainable, social and fun mobility for all school children.
