Al-Kafi is the first of four authoritative books of Shia (al-Kutub al-Arba), and the most important Shi'ite collection of Hadith. Al-Kafi written by Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ya'qub ibn Ishaq Culain Razi. This work, without exaggeration, has made an invaluable contribution to the establishment of twelve Imams teachings of the prophetic kind, peace be upon them, and continues to bring invaluable spread of the Islamic religion.

     Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ya'qub ibn Ishaq Culain Razi, better known as Sheikh Culain an outstanding Shia scholars and researchers who have made an enormous contribution to the development of Islamic teachings. He was born in the village of Culain, located near the Ray, which in the Middle Ages was an important center of Islamic sciences. his birth date is not known. This world he left in 329 lunar Hijra. The life and work of Sheikh Culain occurred in the era of small concealment of Imam Mahdi, peace be with him, which at the time dealt with the people through his four special representatives. Sheikh Culain was an active researcher, a renowned scholar of his time, who created a considerable number of works in the Islamic religion. Internationally he became famous after the creation of his famous collection of Hadith Al-Kafi. In the preparation of this book the author has spent 20 years.

 

Parts and book Al-Kafi

 

     Al-Kafi is divided into three parts: Usul al-Kafi, Furu al-Kafi, Raudatu al-Kafi. Usul al-Kafi includes hadith concerning matters of doctrine, morality, history, monotheism, prophecy, Imamate, Quran, mind, faith and so on. In Furu al-Kafi includes Hadith on the practical side of Islam: ablution, prayer, fasting, Zakat, Hajj and so on. Raudatu al-Kafi includes Hadith on different topics: letters, sermons, debates, interpretations of the verses, the history.

     Usul al-Kafi consists of eight books:

1. The Book of reason and ignorance (kitabul-'akl Wal-Jahl).

2. The Book of the merits of knowledge (Kitab-fadlil'ilm).

3. The Book of Tawheed (kitabut-tawhid).

4. The book's argument (kitabul-hudzhzha).

5. The book of faith and unbelief (kitabul-iman Wal-kufr).

6. The Book of prayers (du'a-kitabud).

7. Book of the merits of the Qur'an (Kitab fadlil-Quran).

8. The Book of Etiquette (kitabul-'ishra).
